IN an affidavit filed in the Lusaka High Court by Director of Public Prosecution – DPP, the State has opposed the application seeking Constitutional Bail for opposition leaders, Brian Mundubile, Makebi Zulu and 16 others.
The State argues that, it fears if granted bail, the opposition leaders might use their political influence to flee the Country.
Further, the State submits that, if granted bail, the applicants might interfere with prosecution witnesses.

The State alleges that Mundubile and Zulu once evaded arrest when they sought refuge at the United Nations House, a situation that called for special arrangements for them to be taken into Police custody.
The Court is yet to determine whether or not Mundubile and Makebi’s circumstances warrant Constitutional bail.
