Democratic Union President Ackim Antony Njobvu has pledged a one-year PAYE exemption for all Zambians in their first year of employment if elected President on 13th August 2026.
Njobvu said the first year of work should be used to build a life, not to pay taxes.
“Ba Youth, your first year of employment should be for building your life, not paying PAYE. My government will give you a one-year PAYE exemption to allow you to settle down and stand on your feet,” he said.
Njobvu compared the proposed exemption to tax incentives given to foreign investors, arguing that Zambian youth deserve the same treatment.
“Just as we give tax holidays to foreign investors, we will give tax holidays to you the Zambian youth. You are the best investment Zambia can make,” he stated.
Njobvu said the policy is part of a broader agenda to “reset Zambia” economically, politically, socially and spiritually through new ideas and innovation.
The Democratic Union leader urged voters to elect a “Young and Energetic President” for what he termed a “Fresh Start” for the country.
“Mufana Wa Chikata. Let’s reset Zambia together. New Zambia Loading…” Njobvu said.
