What may have started as a stunt to seek social media attention and gain more followers on TikTok has backfired for a 23 year old lad of Lusaka’s Matero Township who went viral for allegedly stealing items in different stores while filming the act.

Police arrested and charged Francis Nundwe who was in a video that went viral on various social media platforms where he was seen eating biscuits and drinking an unknown type of drink in Shoprite when he confessed that won’t pay on the video.

In another TikTok video Nundwe was seen replacing his old slippers with new ones put on display at PEP stores.

The you g man is alleged have committed the offence on August 14, 2023 between 13:00 hours and 14:00 hours in Matero Shoprite.

And he has been charged with theft with the value of the stolen items pegged at K23.98.

After he was caught, a video of him in police custody surfaced where he said the videos were just a stunt, as he was aware that the stores he visited had surveIllance cameras.

Police deputy spokesperson Danny Mwale confirmed the arrest.

Mwale said the suspect was released on police bond waiting to appear in court.
