PROGRESS is being gradually made by a combined team of the Zambia Defence Force and Konkola Copper Mines safety department, among others, in the rescue operation for the trapped small-scale miners at Seseli Open Pit Mine in Chingola.

Chingola District Commissioner, Raphael Chimupi, notes that the first stage of the operation was to pump water out of the open pit.

He says Government, working together with other well-wishers, have managed to mobilize required resources to ensure successful operation.

Chimupi has also disclosed that about 25 parents have so far registered as having their children among the trapped victims.
