TEACHER FINED K10, 000 FOR ‘RUINING’ PUPIL’S LIFE

A 41-year-old man of Lusaka has been fined K10, 000 as compensation for ruining his learner’s life.

In this matter, Grace Sianga 25, sued her former teacher Davis Mwansa aged 41 for divorce in the Matero Local court.

Sianga narrated to the court that Mwansa was her former teacher and the two started their relationship when she was in grade seven at a named government school.

She testified that while in grade nine at Kabulonga Girls Secondary School, Mwansa impregnated her which led to their marriage, but it was not long when Mwansa decided to dump her and marry a fellow teacher.

She said her husband stopped providing for her and their children.

In defence, Mwansa told the court that Sianga forced herself on him.

He said he married another woman because he suspected his wife was having extra marital affairs and their second child does not resemble him but their neighbor.

In passing Judgement, Magistrate Kalala was disappointed with Mwansa’s professional misconduct and ordered him to compensate Sianga with K10, 000 and pay K700 monthly allowance for the two children.
