THE GIULIO ONESTI FOUNDATION IN ITALY NAMES ZAMBIAN JOURNALIST NOAH SILOMBA AS ONE OF THE FINALISTS FOR THE 2023 “RUN FOR ART” PHOTOGRAPHY CONTEST

The Giulio Onesti Foundation in Rome, Italy recently announced finalists for the 2023 sixth edition of the “Run for Art” photography contest among them Zambian journalist Noah Silomba.

Noah Silomba’s photograph was selected by the jury as a finalist for the category “Sport and Urban Environment. All finalist photographs have become part of the digital exhibition available at https://www.runforart.com/en/edizione-vi-2023/ and have been published in the exhibition catalog. The category Noah Silomba was placed in had eight finalists; Ayman Youssef, Eduardo Ruano Lin, Halim Mellick, Stephan Bednaic, Anouk Flesch, Cheuk Him Lam and Gregory Moore.

Finalists

The photographs were selected by an international jury of excellence among them; Joël Bouzou President of the World Olympians Association (WOA) and Peace and Sport Organization, Rikki-Paul Bunder Photographer and Head of Photography at Collarts University Australia, Berit Kjøll Member of the Executive Committee and Chair of the Sustainability and Active Lifestyle Commission at the European Olympic Committees (EOC), Rafael Maranhao World Para Sports Communications Lead at the International Paralympic Committee (IPC), Elsie Kibue-Ngare Photographer and co-founder of The African Photobook, Michael James O’Brien Photographer and Chair of Photography at Savannah College of Art and Design, Conrad Yu Sports photographer and Photo manager of Sportsoho Magazine Hong Kong, and Carolina Zavanella CEO and Project Manager at GAU ARENA.

Run for Art is an international contest for young photographers conceived by the Giulio Onesti Foundation. The aim of the competition is to combine art and sport, partnering up the creative energy of art and the strength released by sports determination through photography, the art form that best expresses this union.

Finalists

Since its first edition, the competition has had the support of IOC Olympic Solidarity and the Italian National Olympic Committee.

The purpose of the contest is to create a photographic exhibition that expresses the values of sport and its strong connection with art. The 40 finalist photographs are exhibited in museums and prestigious international locations; among the places that have hosted the Run for Art exhibitions during past editions: the European Parliament in Strasbourg, the MAXXI Museum in Rome, the United Nations Headquarters in New York, the Usina del Arte in Buenos Aires, the International Mugham Center in Baku and the Biltmore Hotel in Miami To accompany the exhibition, a photographic catalog is published in digital format.

Meanwhile, Noah Silomba is ranked 5th in Africa for the 2021 AIPS Sport Media Awards in Photography Sport Action and is a two times media awards nominee (photography Sport Action & Best Writing Colour Piece) categories for the year 2020 and 2021 under the International Sports Press Association (AIPS) in Lausanne, Switzerland.
