A 42-year-old traditional healer of Choma has landed himself in trouble after he attempted to have sex on two occasions with a 13-year-old girl whom he offered to treat for poor performance in English, science and mathematics.
Matthews Siasimba, of Mwapona Township, has been arrested for indecent assault.

Southern Province police commanding officer Auxensio Daka confirmed yesterday that Mr Siasimba committed the offence last week between Wednesday and Friday.

Mr Daka said the victim’s older brother reported to the police that Mr Siasimba indecently assaulted her younger sister in a quest to make her bright in some subjects.

“On February 2, 2024 around 19:00 hours, the suspect went to the victim’s brother’s shop where he found her with her sister-in-law and her younger sister,” he said.

“He introduced himself as a traditional healer, who perceived that the girl was poor in English, science and mathematics, and that he could help to treat her so that she becomes bright.”

Mr Daka said the following day, Mr Siasimba met with the girl and her sister within Mwapona and showed them his house.

He said this led to them going back to his place around 09:00 hours last Wednesday, where they found him.

Mr Daka said the suspect demanded that the victim should be left with him as she was to be treated alone.

“The suspect and the victim entered the house and while inside, she was given some charms to wash her face and then Siasimba undressed her and also undressed himself,” he said.

However, some members of the community who saw the girls at the culprit’s house confronted him and demanded for the victim.

The older brother was informed about the incident and he apprehended the culprit and handed him over to Choma Central Police Station.
