Traditional Health Practitioners Association of Zambia President Dr. Rodwell Vongo has urged Lusaka Mayor Chitambala Mwewa to exercise caution when dealing with spiritual matters, warning against approaching such issues solely from a physical perspective.
Dr. Vongo has told Phoenix News that spiritual matters are complex and should be handled with an understanding of the spiritual realm, cautioning that failure to do so could have consequences.

Recently, Mr. Mwewa announced that the local authority would take action against traditional healers operating in Lusaka, with videos circulating showing the mayor removing advertising posters belonging to traditional healers.
Dr. Vongo has, however, commended the mayor’s efforts to restore order in the city, saying the association supports government’s efforts to protect citizens, maintain peace and ensure that those who break the law are held accountable.
He has also condemned the reported killings of two women aged 20 and 26, allegedly by a 17-year-old boy who was reportedly acting on instructions from a traditional leader who promised him wealth through human sacrifices.
Dr. Vongo further urged the public to be wary of unregistered traditional healers, saying the association is ready to work with government to identify individuals falsely presenting themselves as legitimate practitioners and ensure that those operating illegally are brought to book.
