Shawa, a resident of New Kasama in Lusaka, escaped the accident without injuries.

The vehicle has since been impounded and is being kept at Simon Mwansa Kapwepwe Police Station pending re-examination by the Road Transport and Safety Agency (RTSA).

Kaitisha said police had recorded a statement from the driver, while investigations into the circumstances surrounding the accident were ongoing.

She urged motorists to exercise caution when overtaking and remain alert to cyclists and other vulnerable road users to prevent avoidable injuries and loss of life.

The incident highlights the dangers cyclists face on Lusaka’s roads and the importance of responsible driving, particularly when overtaking near other road users.

Police investigations are continuing.
