A 17-year-old girl has narrated before the Choma Magistrate Court how a witch doctor’s wife asked her to sleep on her matrimonial bed so her husband could have séx with her.

The victim explained that she was raped by 42-year-old Shyvin Muchinga, a Witch Doctor, on the same bed the wife was sleeping with a four-month-old baby around midnight on 9th September, 2023.

This is a matter in which Muchinga from Muganga Village is charged with rape in count one and the second count, he is charged with the unlawful possession of a firearm contrary to the laws of Zambia.

When the matter came up for trial before Magistrate Ethel Phiri, the victim said the family had gone to the Witch Doctor in Mutandalike where they stayed for cleansing after her uncle had died and needed to know the cause of his death.

She said after days, the mother left and she proceeded to sleep in the one-roomed house on the couch where she was asked to join the couple on the bed so the witch doctor could have séx with her.

The victim told the court that when she refused, the Witch Doctor, Muchinga, threatened to shoot her which led to her compliance and cried loudly during the act but her voice could not break.

And Yvonne Muyanga, the Wife of the Witch Doctor said she has been married to Muchinga for only two months and when he raped the victim, he threatened to shoot or bewitch her if she ever disclosed it to anyone.

She told the court that in their months of marriage, Muchinga had threatened to bewitch her twice and that she felt bad when he had séx with the victim and decided to inform the aunt of the girl.

Magistrate Phiri has since adjourned the matter to 27th October, 2023 for continuation of trial while the accused person is remanded in custody.
