YOU BEAT A SUSPECT, YOU GET ARRESTED – ZP

SOUTHERN Province Commissioner of Police, Auxensio Daka, has urged the public to desist from inflicting physical punishment on individuals suspected or found committing crime.

He says no one should resort to taking the law into their hands as doing so is an offence that could result in an arrest.

Speaking during a Press Briefing held at Choma Police Station on Thursday Morning, Daka emphasized the need to hand over suspects of crime to the Police who are entrusted with overseeing observance of public law.

He was commenting on the recent incident in which man Anderson Milembo from Ufwenuka Chiefdom in Monze District died after an angry mob subjected him to beatings on suspicion of stealing fresh maize cobs from a field.

Daka pledged justice in the matter, stating that the suspects in the matter have been identified and been sought for arrest.
