A 20-year-old man of Choma’s Kachacha Compound, Emmanuel Mutukwa, has allegedly committed suicide by hanging himself to the roof in a bedroom.

The incident was reported to Choma Police by father to the deceased, Kayama Mutukwa, on April 14, 2024, with the occurrence suspected to have taken place between 09:00 hours and 10:30 hours.

Southern Province Commissioner of Police, Auxensio Daka, notes that on April 13, 2024, around 16:00 hours, the deceased got K250 from his father’s shop in Mwapona to order biscuits but never came back.

Daka explains that the next day, the deceased went to his sister in-law house, Nchimunya Mudenda, within Kachacha Compound where he requested to sleep, saying that he had some pressure.

He states that when Mudenda tried to inquire what the issue was, the deceased could not disclose, hence left him home sleeping and went to church.

Daka says around 10:30 hours, a man identified as Marsha Siavwelenga of the same abode went to wash his clothes and upon entering the bedroom, he found the deceased hanging from the roof.

He conveys that Police visited the scene and found the body of deceased hanging in the bedroom using a chitenge material with no visible injuries seen and no foul play suspected.
