ZAMBIA PARTICIPATES AT THE 62ND SESSION OF THE COMMISSION FOR SOCIAL PROTECTION

Ministry of Community Development and Social Services, Permanent Secretary, Ms Angela Kawandami, is leading the Zambian delegation at the 62nd Session of the Commission for Social Development at the United Nations Headquarters in New York, USA.

The Permanent Secretary is expected to outline Zambia’s status on social protection in her statement later today.

The Session, which opened yesterday, will run until the 14th of February 2024, under the theme, “Fostering Social Development and Social Justice through Social Policies to Accelerate Progress on the Implementation of the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development and to Achieve the Overarching Goal of Poverty Eradication.”

The Commission for Social Development (CSocD) has been in existence from the very inception of the United Nations, advising the Economic and Social Council and Governments on a wide range of social policy issues and the social perspective of development.
