A COUPLE of Nazilindi village under Senior Chief Mujimanzovu in Mushindamo, North-Western Province, has died after the motorbike they were travelling on hit into a tree which had fallen on the road.

Mushindamo district administrative officer Oscar Mugala confirmed the Tuesday night accident in an interview yesterday and identified the rider as Ackson Nazilindi, 60, and his pillion rider as Joyce Chilimboyi, 55, his wife.

“The man was riding an unregistered motorbike, Boxer by make, on Kasapa-Kipushi road and hit into a big tree which fell on the road which covered the whole road,” Mr Mugala said.

He said due to the impact of the accident, the rider sustained a broken skull, cuts on the chin and chest, while his pillion rider had a fractured left arm and deep cuts on the head and chest.
“Both victims are suspected to have died on the spot,” Mr Mugala said.

The bodies were discovered yesterday around 06:40 hours by school-going children, who reported the matter to the village headman and then later to the police.

“However, no medical examination has been conducted to establish the cause of the death,” Mr Mugala said.

North-Western Province police commanding officer Dennis Moola said his office had not yet received the report by press time yesterday.
