November 21, 2023 – Police in Matero have detained Musonda Muluma aged 28 of Zingalume compound in Lusaka on allegations of having killed a one month old baby.

It is alleged that on November 20, 2023, at around 19:30 hours the suspect went to look for his girlfriend at her uncle’s place within Zingalume.

Upon reaching at his girlfriend’s place, he noticed that she was not around then he decided to force himself inside the house and found the girlfriend’s uncle and the wife seated while their baby was sleeping.

Afterwards, he threatened to kill the couple and the baby because they declined telling him where his girlfriend was, He then lifted up the baby and started hitting him against the ground. The father tried to rescue the baby but he was over powered by the suspect who produced a knife which he used to stab him on the right arm.

Police visited the scene of crime and managed to apprehend the suspect with help of the members of the public.

The victims were rushed to George Clinic where the baby was pronounced dead upon arrival whilst the father is admitted in the same Hospital.

The body of the deceased was deposited in university teaching hospital mortuary awaiting postmortem.

The suspect is detained in police custody waiting to be charged and appear in court soon.
