ZNS soldier murdered while trying to save asthmatic wife

IN an attempt to safeguard the life of his missing rib who is asthmatic, Martin Mwewa a ZNS officer loses his life in Kasama’s New Town suburbs.

Martin Mwewa a Zambia National Service Soldier aged 37 got attacked on Good Friday around 9PM as he left his house with the motive of visiting a health facility to collect an inhaler for his asthmatic wife.

Izukanji Nawale, the wife to the ZNS officer was waiting for the return of her spouse that never happened but only received the news around 6 AM on Holy Saturday that her husband was unconscious in the Intensive Care Unit of Kasama General Hospital.

Confirming the sad development,Northern Province Police Commanding Officer Lucky Munkondya says Mr. Mwewa was attacked between 9PM of a Good Friday and 6 AM of Holy Saturday by unknown people and unknown sharp instruments were allegedly used to inflict the injuries.

Mr. Mwewa breathed his last around 18:45 hours yesterday, and his body has since been deposited in Kasama General Hospital mortuary awaiting postmortem and burial.

A docket has been opened and police have since instituted investigations.
