A Senior Citizen from Cheenje Village in Kalomo’s Siachitema Chiefdom who resumed school aged 60 in 2008, has encouraged young people to prioritize education.

Maile Mazuka tells Byta FM Zambia News in an interview that his resolve to go back to school at the time was inspired by challenges he faced in accessing the Farmer Input Support Program-FISP, due to his inability to read at the time.

Mazuka narrates that after completing Grade 12 in 2014, he enrolled in a short Agriculture Course, which enabled him to get employment at a named seed company.

He has advised youths of school going age who dropped out, not to shy away from academics, but should resume learning as it opens up more opportunities.

In a separate interview, Chembe Ward Councilor in Choma District, Hebert Monze, has also challenged young people not to give up on school for any reason.

Moonze explained that staying away from school has high chances of creating societal delinquents, posing a threat to the security of locals.
