Zambia Police Mourns Former Deputy Inspector General Alita Mbahwe

Lusaka, May 20, 2026 — The Zambia Police Service has expressed deep sorrow following the death of former Deputy Inspector General of Police – Administration, Ms. Alita Mbahwe.

In an official message of condolences issued on May 19, 2026, Inspector General of Police Graphel Musamba said he received the news of Ms. Mbahwe’s passing with profound sadness, describing her death as a major loss to the Police Service and the country.

Musamba extended heartfelt condolences to the bereaved family, relatives, friends, and all officers within the Zambia Police Service, stating that the late senior officer served the nation with dedication and professionalism.

“On behalf of the Zambia Police Service, the Police Command, and indeed on my own behalf, I wish to convey our heartfelt condolences to the bereaved family, relatives, friends, and all members of the Zambia Police Service during this difficult period,” Musamba said.

The Inspector General noted that Ms. Mbahwe’s contribution to the administration and development of the police service will remain a lasting legacy and an inspiration to many serving officers.

“The late Deputy Inspector General of Police – Administration served the nation and the Zambia Police Service with dedication, professionalism, and unwavering commitment to duty,” he stated.

Musamba further prayed for strength and comfort for all those affected by the loss, asking God to grant peace to the family as they mourn.

“As we mourn this great loss, we pray that the Almighty God grants comfort, strength, and peace to the family and all those affected by this untimely passing,” he said.

The Inspector General concluded by wishing Ms. Mbahwe eternal rest, as the Zambia Police Service joins the nation in mourning one of its senior former leaders.

“May her soul rest in eternal peace,” he said.
