Zambia Association of Musicians (ZAM) president and musician B Flow has acknowledged veteran rapper Macky 2’s concerns about the support he received from fellow musicians during his recent political campaign in Chingola.
B Flow’s response comes after Macky 2 publicly expressed disappointment over what he described as limited support from the wider Zambian music fraternity during his campaign, saying that only about six artists stood with him despite the country’s large number of musicians.
Macky 2 also specifically addressed B Flow, saying the ZAM president did not physically support his campaign beyond making Facebook posts, joking that social media posts did not count as actual support.
Responding to Macky 2, B Flow appeared to accept the criticism and took responsibility on behalf of the music industry.
“True Macky 2, you have a point. We failed you and I take the blame on behalf of the industry. I pray God grants us an opportunity to do better next time,” B Flow wrote.
He further indicated that he intended to speak directly with Macky 2 about the matter, ending his response with a promise to make a phone call to the veteran musician.
The exchange comes amid a broader conversation about solidarity among Zambian musicians and whether artists should support one another when colleagues become involved in major projects outside the music industry.
Macky 2 said he does not believe fellow musicians owe him anything, but acknowledged that the level of support he received was disappointing, particularly because he felt his political campaign and eventual victory could also benefit the wider music industry.

He also said that some musicians allegedly went as far as performing for his political opponents during the campaign period, adding to his disappointment.
Despite his concerns, Macky 2 maintained that he would continue supporting fellow artists and would not stop showing up for others simply because he felt the same support was not extended to him.
B Flow’s response now introduces a conciliatory tone into the discussion, with the ZAM president acknowledging the criticism rather than escalating the disagreement.
B Flow has previously spoken about the importance of unity within Zambia’s music industry. When he was elected president of the Zambia Association of Musicians in 2025, he said he wanted to build a united association and urged musicians, including those who had not supported his own leadership bid, to work together to improve the industry.
The latest exchange could therefore reignite discussions about the responsibilities of artists and industry leaders towards one another, particularly when prominent musicians become involved in public campaigns and other national activities.
For Macky 2, the issue appears to have been less about expecting musicians to support him out of obligation and more about whether the industry could demonstrate solidarity at a time when one of its prominent figures was seeking support.
For B Flow, his admission that “we failed you” could open the door for a direct conversation between the two musicians and potentially a wider discussion within ZAM about how artists can better support each other in future.
The public exchange has also drawn attention to Mampi’s reported role in supporting Macky 2’s campaign. B Flow had earlier praised Mampi for what he described as behind-the-scenes financial assistance to artists who travelled to campaign events, although those claims about the specific funding arrangements have not been independently verified.
As the conversation continues, attention will likely remain on whether the disagreement results in a broader conversation about musician welfare, industry solidarity and the role of ZAM in supporting artists beyond music performances.
For now, B Flow’s message suggests that the criticism has been heard and that he is prepared to discuss the matter directly with Macky 2.
