Amidst an atmosphere of celebration and admiration after granny Judith was called in front of the pulpit to honour her unwavering dedication as one of the oldest serving ushers in the church’s history Bishop Joseph Imakando presented the dummy cheque to her.

In deep admiration, Bishop Imakando emphasized the pivotal role she played within the church community, serving as a pillar of support for over two decades.

He said granny Judith joined the ushering ministry in 1996 and has been serving since then without relenting despite her old age.

“And some of our members felt that we needed to appreciate her while she was alive,” Bishop Imakando said.

“So, a number of us started contributing and we raised some money which we want to present to her.”

He added that K75,420 was raised and it will go towards the renovation of her house while part of it will be given to her in installment as an allowance going forward until the funds are depleted.

Bishop Imakando also called for other well wishers led and inspired by granny Judith’s service, to add to the amount raised to assist in growing it.

Receiving the cheque, granny Judith fondly called Mrs Kangwa attributed her longevity in service to the boundless love she has for her faith and the deep sense of fulfillment she experiences when helping others.

“I just love to serve my Lord while I’m still alive,” she said.

She encouraged the aged to continue serving God while emphacising the importance to visit one another to strengthen relationships.

Even though her body is now frail and she can barely walk straight, granny Judith said she will still serve and do visitations.

“Let’s love one another, those that are old let’s go and visit them,” said Mrs Kangwa.
