A four-year-old boy from Makeni East, Lusaka, has had his innocence robbed after allegedly being sxually abused by a 27-year-old maid while his parents were away at the shops.

Maureen Buumba, the maid from Mumbwa, has now been charged with indecent assault, an offense that allegedly occurred earlier this month. Buumba is expected to enter a plea before Lusaka Magistrate Kawana Mwamfuli this week.

Police investigations indicate that on June 8, the accused allegedly got hold of the victim and inserted the child’s genitals into her own.

The child later informed the parents about the incident, which happened while they were away at the shops. The victim also explained the ordeal to the police in the presence of his parents.

After being warned and cautioned, Buumba voluntarily denied the allegations before she was formally charged and arrested.

Meanwhile, a 32-year-old bar attendant from Lundazi, Eastern Province, who impregnated a 14-year-old Grade 7 pupil, has been sentenced to 35 years imprisonment with hard labor.

Zifa Chirwa of Chiphyola Township, who is said to have had sex with a pupil from Lundazi Secondary School several times, was convicted on one count of defilement by the lower court and later committed to the High Court for sentencing.
