THE man whose decomposed body was found in a flat in Lusaka’s Kabulonga area has been identified as Lwimiko Bornface Chilangwa after police traced his relatives.
Police spokesperson Chipo Kaitisha said the relatives had since identified the body, following an earlier public appeal for information to establish the deceased’s identity.
“The Zambia Police Service wishes to sincerely thank all members of the public who responded to the appeal and provided information or assistance that contributed to the successful identification of the deceased,” Kaitisha said.

Chilangwa’s body remains at the University Teaching Hospital Mortuary, where it is awaiting a postmortem examination to establish the exact cause of death.
His body was discovered yesterday at a flat on Plot No. 32, Roan Road in Lusaka’s Kabulonga area after police received a report of a foul smell coming from the property by a member of the public.
Police had earlier indicated that the man, believed to have been aged between 50 and 55, lived alone and was reportedly last seen about a week before his body was discovered.
The Zambia Police Service has since extended its condolences to the bereaved family.
