Newly elected Mwandi Constituency Member of Parliament Iris Kaingu has reaffirmed her commitment to staying close to the community after worshipping with members of the New Apostolic Church, Mwandi Central Congregation.
Kaingu spent Sunday with the congregation, where she expressed gratitude for the warm reception and fellowship she received during her visit.
The Mwandi MP-elect said the opportunity allowed her to interact with members of the congregation, particularly children and young people, as she prepares to begin her new role representing the constituency.
“Happy Sunday, I had the privilege of worshipping with the New Apostolic Church, Mwandi Central Congregation,” Kaingu said in a message shared on her social media platforms.
She described the visit as an opportunity to connect with the community and expressed appreciation to the church family for welcoming her.
Kaingu said her approach to serving Mwandi will be centred on remaining connected to communities, listening to residents and carrying out her responsibilities with humility.
“As I prepare to serve the people of Mwandi as their Member of Parliament, I remain committed to staying close to our communities, listening and serving with humility,” she said.
Her message comes shortly after she secured the Mwandi Constituency parliamentary seat in the 2026 General Election, marking the beginning of her transition from parliamentary candidate to MP-elect.
The interaction with the New Apostolic Church congregation also reflects Kaingu’s emphasis on community engagement as she prepares to take up her responsibilities in Parliament.
She thanked the New Apostolic Church family in Mwandi for receiving her warmly and extended her prayers and good wishes to the congregation and residents of Mwandi.
“May God continue to bless the congregation and the people of Mwandi,” Kaingu said.
As she prepares to officially begin her parliamentary duties, Kaingu is expected to face the task of translating her campaign commitments into practical initiatives while maintaining engagement with residents across Mwandi Constituency.
Her emphasis on listening and remaining close to communities signals an intention to maintain direct contact with constituents as she begins her term in Parliament.
