Malambo East Independent Member of Parliament Faith Lungu says she beat former Minister of Green Economy and Environment Mike Mposha fair and square in the 2026 general election.
Mposha is quoted in some sections of the media as claiming he won but chose not to petition, and Lungu said the official count was 7,118 votes for her to his 5,091, a margin of 2,027 votes or about 16.6 percentage points.

She noted that declining to petition does not turn a loss into a victory and that, if he truly won, the petition route was open to him.
Lungu said what is done is done and urged respect for the electorate’s verdict and service to the people of Malambo East in Mambwe District, Eastern Province.
She emphasised that Mposha’s remarks could be seen as undermining the UPND government by suggesting that the Electoral Commission of Zambia is compromised.
Lungu affirmed that the official results stand and that she remains focused on serving the electorate with honesty and dedication.
