United Prosperous And Peaceful Zambia (UPPZ) leader and UPND Alliance Partner Charles Chanda has offered K1 million to hire ten people for a short-term private mining contract.
Chanda said he is looking for five mining engineers and five machine operators. Each person will be paid K100,000 after ten days of work.
He said the money is his own and not from government, describing it as a practical way to help jumpstart the Grow Zambia Agenda as a private citizen.
“I am doing this as Charles Chanda, a private citizen. I want to show that Zambians can create jobs for Zambians,” he said. “We need five engineers and five operators. Each will get K100,000 after ten days. That is K1 million total,” he said, in a Facebook Livestream monitored by Zed Gossip News.
Chanda said the first ten days will be open pit preparation in Kasempa. After that, he said his team will move to Lufwanyama for emerald mining for another five days. He did not say whether the team will be paid extra for the additional five days.
He has since encouraged other private citizens to start similar small projects.
“Do not wait for government. Start where you are. Grow Zambia together,” he said.

Chanda stressed that while he is a political leader, this is a personal business venture.
