A Self-proclaimed Prophet identified as Grey Muchindu,36, based at Mawaya Pilgrim Church in Kalomo, has been arrested for allegedly defiling a nine year-old girl.

The incident which is said to have occurred on April 1, 2024, around 14:00 hours was reported to Kalomo Police Station by mother to the victim around 17:48 hours.

During the Sunday Service on March 31, 2024, the suspect prophesied that he saw a strong demon in the victim and that it could only be casted out if he prayed overnight for her at his house.

Southern Province Commissioner of Police, Auxensio Daka, tells Byta FM Zambia that knowing that the suspect is married, the victim’s mother agreed and handed over her daughter to him.

Daka says on April 1, the suspect took the victim and another 15-year-old girl to a hill for prayers and when they were at the location, the latter was told to stop walking and wait for them from there.

He states that the suspect proceeded with the victim to the next hill where he defiled her, with the other girl saying she heard her colleague crying and observed dust and grass on her back the time she came back.

Daka said that the Prophet remained at the hills whilst the two children went to a CCPU Member who later apprehended the suspect and brought him to the Police Station.
