A young University of Zambia graduate, Jotham Likomeno, has died only a few months after completing his degree and beginning his career in the media industry.
According to the Zambia Daily Mail, Likomeno died in the early hours of today at Kabwe General Hospital, with his family confirming his death.
Likomeno, who graduated from the University of Zambia last year with a degree in Media and Journalism, had only recently begun building the career he had worked towards during his time at the university.
The Zambia Daily Mail described him as a calm, quiet and respectful young man from Chavuma who was fondly known as “the Servant” among his friends at UNZA.
Following his graduation, Likomeno began working with the Zambia News and Information Services (ZANIS), where he presented the Zango ya Valuvale programme.
He later took another step into broadcasting and digital media by launching his own podcast, as he continued pursuing his passion for journalism and communication.

His death has also left members of the UNZA Catholic community mourning a young man remembered for his commitment to serving God.
According to the Zambia Daily Mail, members of the Catholic community at the UNZA chapel remember Likomeno for his passion for service, with the young graduate having also taken up a leadership role within the community.
His death has been particularly difficult for those who knew him closely, coming at a time when his professional journey was only beginning.
One of his close friends, Kahokola Kakoma, described the loss in deeply emotional terms, saying he was “broken.”
Likomeno’s story is one of a young graduate who had begun turning his academic training into practical work, moving from university into broadcasting and eventually creating his own media platform.
His passing has therefore come as a shock to friends, colleagues and members of the university community who had watched his journey from student life into the professional world.
