ZESCO Limited has apologized to customers in parts of Lusaka for a prolonged electricity outage experienced on Thursday, October 22, 2026.

The affected areas are Kabulonga Extension, part of Ibex Hill, Kalikiliki, Mtendere, Kalingalinga, Mass Media, off Kamloops Road and part of Salama Park.

In a statement issued today by its Corporate Affairs Department, ZESCO said the outage was due to planned maintenance works involving the replacement of aged electricity poles in the affected areas.

The Corporation said the works are aimed at preventing frequent equipment failures and ensuring safe, reliable and stable electricity supply ahead of the rainy season.

ZESCO said it empathizes that the prolonged outage may have unintentionally disrupted businesses, particularly small and medium-scale enterprises such as barbershops, salons and restaurants.

“ZESCO sincerely apologises for the inconvenience caused and thanks its valued customers for their patience and understanding,” the statement read.
