Former Matero aspiring Member of Parliament Patrick Salubusa has announced that he will not challenge the recent Matero Constituency election results in court, saying he has chosen to accept what he believes is God’s will.

Salubusa made the announcement after attending the morning English Mass at Lilanda Catholic Church, where he said he spent time reflecting and praying about the outcome of the election and the possibility of filing an election petition.

According to Salubusa, the prayers led him to consider whether he should petition God or take his concerns over the election to the courts.
After reflecting throughout the Mass, he said he arrived at a decision not to pursue a legal challenge.

“I will not petition,” Salubusa stated.
He stressed that his decision was not motivated by fear, bitterness or defeat, nor did it mean he was dismissing concerns that may have been raised regarding the electoral process.

Instead, Salubusa said the decision followed prayer, personal reflection and what he described as listening to what Christ had placed on his heart.

The former Matero parliamentary aspirant said he had come to believe that his purpose extends beyond winning a political contest.

“Sometimes, we ask God for justice when He is asking us to demonstrate grace. Sometimes, we ask for victory when He is reminding us that our purpose is bigger than one election,” he said.

Salubusa said he was proud of the campaign he ran and maintained that he had served with conviction while standing with the people who supported his candidacy.

“I have fought a good fight, served with conviction and stood with the people who placed their trust in me. I have no regrets,” he said.
He further said he had chosen peace, love and faith over pursuing the matter through the courts.

“I choose peace. I choose love,” Salubusa said.
The decision means Salubusa will not join the growing number of candidates who may seek legal recourse over disputed aspects of the 2026 General Election.

Instead, he said he was leaving the matter in God’s hands and trusting that God’s plans for his life and for Matero Constituency are greater than his political ambitions.

Salubusa also expressed gratitude to residents who voted for him, supported his campaign and encouraged him throughout the electoral process.

“To those who voted for me, supported my campaign, stood with me and encouraged me throughout this journey: thank you. Your love and confidence in me will never be forgotten,” he said.

He concluded his message by calling for peace, love and unity while extending his blessings to Matero and Zambia.

“May God bless Matero. May God bless Zambia. And may we continue to choose peace, love and unity,” Salubusa said.

His decision has added another notable post-election development in Matero, where the parliamentary contest attracted significant attention during the 2026 General Election.
