…as the Rhumba maestro is accorded “Police” escort

By Francis Chipalo

The Zambia Institute of Independent Media Alliance (ZIIMA) has called on the Zambia Police Service to effect an arrest on Rhumba star Koffi Olomide who has arrived in the country ahead of his show.

Koffi is alleged to have assaulted photo journalist Jean Mandela on 29th December, 2012 at an even where the victim was taking pictures.

The artist is said to have kicked Mandela in the face and the matter was reported to the police.

And speaking in an interview with Lusaka Radio, ZIIMA president Jajah Coulibaly says the police should not hesitate to effect an arrest on Koffi who has already arrived in Zambia.
Coulibaly says there is no way Koffi can be walking freely when there is a bench warrant against him.

“We call on the police to be proactive in this case knowing that there is a bench warrant against Koffi having assaulted a journalist Jean Mandela who was merely doing his job.
Koffi should be arrested and let justice be served,” Coulibaly said.

And when contacted for a comment, Police Deputy Spokesperson Danny Mwale says he would give a comprehensive statement once he corresponds with officers dealing with the case as they were in a meeting by press time.
Meanwhile, the Rhumba maestro who arrived at the Kenneth Kaunda International Airport in Lusaka was given “Police” escort.

He will be performing at the African Music Food and Arts Festival alongside other African and local artists on the 25th and 26th of this month at the show grounds in Lusaka.
