Zambia’s sensational music giants Macky 2, Slap Dee and Towela Kaira have been nominated in the 9th edition of the African Muzik Magazine Awards (AFRIMMA) tagged ‘This is Africa’.

Macky 2 and Slap Dee have been placed in the Best Male Southern African and are competing with the likes of Master KG from South Africa, Focalistic from South Africa, Zakes Bantwini from South Africa, Edgar Muzah from Zimbabwe and other top artists. South Africa has dominated the category with several artists.

Zambia’s only female artist nominated in the Best Female Southern Africa Towela is battling out with the likes of DBN Gogo from South Africa, Ammara Brown from Zimbabwe, Makhadzi from South Africa, Shekhina from South Africa, Mpho Sebina from Botswana among others.

The awards to be hosted in Gilley’s in Dallas, Texas USA are set to be held on November 19 with a live audience as the past two editions were held virtually due to the advent of Covid-19 which had disrupted several activities globally.

AFRIMMA CEO, Anderson Obiagwu, in a statement said “We have missed having the live shows and having the audience rooting for the stars, this year promises to be even bigger than previous years. All I would say is stay tuned as more major announcements are set to be revealed”.
Zambian hip-hop artist Cleo Ice Queen last won the ‘Best Female Southern Africa’ AFRIMMA award in 2015.

African Muzik Magazine Awards (AFRIMMA) is the sole award ceremony in Diaspora that caters to all musical genres including but not limited to Afrobeats, Assiko, Bongo, Decale, Funana, Genge, Highlife, Kwaito, Lingala and Soukous.
